God’s Help is Always Right On Time

I am afflicted and needy;
hurry to me, God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
Lord, do not delay.

-Psalm 70:5

Life can be crazy and overwhelming at times. The things we need to do can pile upon us quickly, and we can easily feel overburdened and exhausted even before we get out of bed in the morning. But God is not a God of burden or chaos. He is a God of Peace, and He is eager to rush to our aid to help us in our times of need.

What often makes us feel overwhelmed is thinking about all the things we need to do, like we have to do them all at once. First, we must remember that God has already gone before us today. He has already planned the events and circumstances out. We just simply need to walk in what He’s already done, taking the circumstances as they come, one moment at a time. Next, we need to surrender to His perfect will for the day. We need to ask Him, “Lord, I have what I believe I need to do today, but You know better. Please help me to do Your will, and leave the rest aside for another time, or aside permanently.” God’s perfect wisdom will let you know what to focus on and what to leave aside as the day goes along. Finally, we need to remember God’s help arrives at the perfect time–not a moment early or late. Why does He tend to interact this way? Because He wants us to rely on His grace for the present moment. Since the present is the only time we can truly live in anyway, He wants us to remain there and focus on Him there. The past is behind us. Who knows what the next moment will bring? We can only focus on this moment right here. It is in this moment where God’s grace will guide us. And it’s always right on time.

Begin today by thanking God for His grace in the present moment, and the future grace He will extend to you. Spend some time now bowing your head and praying, letting yourself relax in His presence as His peace surrounds you and comforts you. He will carry you through today. But it will be one moment at a time. Focus on this moment only, and leave the rest to Him. Trust His help will arrive for the next moment, right when you need it.
