“Wait a little longer.”

Revelation 6:11 NIV

Waiting on God may be one of the most challenging tests of our faith. By nature, we are impatient people. Our culture does little to help us in this area as the promotion of the mentality, “you can have what you want, when you want it” infests our society. But God is our helper. He gives us the strength to be patient. And if we let Him, He will teach us many things while we wait on Him.

Jesus is a God of relationship. Through the process of waiting, He walks with us and invites us to get to know Him by seeing how He works things out around us. And working things out takes time. It does not happen overnight. That is why we must wait. You see, God is a master at orchestrating circumstances, people, and situations to show us His sovereignty and glory. If we received what we’ve asked for right away, we would miss the process in which He works. The journey, my friend, is just as important, if not more so, than the final destination.

Don’t miss the development of your relationship with Jesus when He says you need to wait a little longer. It is precious, important time that you need to spend with Him. Acknowledge your pain in waiting. Tell Him how hard it is. He knows. Ask Him to put His arm around you and comfort you with the strength only He can give. Then walk forward with Him and enjoy Him. He is so good. The wait is hard, but oh friend, it is so worth it to know Jesus that much more.
