The Election is in God’s Hands

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

-Psalm 46:10-11 (NIV)

Most would agree this has been a contentious election season. However, we can find much reassurance through the Word of God that every detail is in God’s hands. Take a look at what Daniel wrote–a man who saw the rise and fall of several kings in two different empires:

May the name of God
be praised forever and ever,
for wisdom and power belong to Him.
He changes the times and seasons;
He removes kings and establishes kings.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those
who have understanding.
He reveals the deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
and light dwells with Him.

(Daniel 2:20-22)

God is in control of all things. We can trust everything is going according to His perfect plan, even when it looks messy and out of control to us. We know that no matter what, He will be exalted as God Almighty. While circumstances change rapidly here on earth, we can stand firm on the truths of God’s character. He never changes. He will always remain sovereign over every situation–in individual lives, in families, in nations, and throughout the whole world. The Creator God constantly watches over His creation, so we need not worry.

I encourage us all this weekend to be in prayer and give our worries and anxieties to God. Once we do, let’s take Him at His word and trust in His outcome. Let’s focus on glorifying His name through our lives and let go of the things that our outside of our control. Let’s make sure we do our part and vote, but then let’s praise God for His sovereignty. He loves us and always has our best eternal interests in mind.
