This is what the LORD, the King of Israel and its Redeemer, the LORD of Hosts, says: I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but Me. Who, like Me, can announce the future?

-Isaiah 44:6-7a

There are many in our time and throughout history who have claimed they know what is to come, but there is only one source that is truly trustworthy on this matter: The Bible. That’s because the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God. Only the One true God, the Triune God, the Father-Son-Holy Spirit, knows the beginning from the end, because God is the first and the last. He sees the end from the beginning. And only He can announce the future, as He has through the Bible.

These are uncertain times if we look at the world around us. However, we don’t have to guess as to what’s going to happen. We can read in God’s Word exactly how it’s all going to play out. And we can take great comfort in knowing the truth. While we won’t have all the answers, we can know the One who does. And spending time with Him in prayer and in His Word will comfort us and give us the peace we need to carry on until God accomplishes His plan as it is laid out in His word.

You may be asking–Where can I start reading about what’s to come? The book of Revelation is a great place to start. There’s even a special blessing just for those who read Revelation and keep what is written in it in their hearts (see Revelation 1:3). It is not a book meant to scare us as believers, but to prepare us. If you are in Christ and Christ is in you, Revelation can be a source of great comfort if you allow God to speak through it.

As the writer of Hebrews opens his letter, “Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son” (Hebrews 1:1-2a). Jesus is the Word of God, and it is through Jesus that God speaks. Open the Bible to hear Him speak to you. He will speak to your heart and to your life’s circumstances. Ask Him to speak to you and He will. And knowing He is the One who knows how it will all work out will bring you comfort and peace indeed.
