Grace Multiplied Even More

But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

-Romans 5:20b-21

We have been crucified with Christ and no longer live, but Christ now lives in us. And the life we now live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loves us and gave Himself for us (see Galatians 2:20). We need to hang onto every word of these verses in Galatians 2 and Romans 5. We need to fall into the grace God offers us day after day, hour after hour, and moment after moment. His love surrounds us, and we need fresh doses of it throughout the day. We need to get lost in His grace rather than worry about stumbling through in our own effectiveness. We will never be effective if we keep striving on our own. We will succeed, however, when we lose ourselves in His love and grace. He will do the work we cannot do.

It’s so contrary to our nature it’s almost suffocating. But if we let go and trust Him, we will slowly feel the freedom and peace which comes only through His Spirit. He’s worked it all together for our good in Christ Jesus (see Romans 8:28). We just need to trust it, even when it’s messy and unsettling and looks altogether disheveled and chaotic. It’s not to Him. It’s perfect. His grace multiplies even more in our weaknesses–when we are combing through the darkest moments of uncertainty, He’s right there beside us. We need not worry one iota. We just need to rest in His loving arms and allow Him to carry us.

The moments of darkness will pass and the light will shine eventually. In the meantime, cast your cares on Him and let go. He’ll do the driving. You can trust Him. Keep moving forward and don’t look back. He’s got it all in His perfect hands.
