God Does Not Deceive

God is not a man who lies,
or a son of man who changes His mind.
Does He speak and not act,
or promise and not fulfill?

-Numbers 23:19

Here’s a powerful Scripture we don’t encounter often enough! I believe every one of us could benefit from having this verse memorized.

How often does Satan try to deceive us? All that time. That’s what he does. But what’s worse, he points to God and calls Him the deceiver! We get so confused and confounded we don’t know what’s going on. It’s one of Satan’s longtime tricks that he keeps using over and over again. Why? Because it works.

In times of confusion and chaos over the truth of a situation, we need to do something very simple–go straight to the Word of God. Remember God’s promises to us–He will fulfill them, completely and perfectly. In the midst of every voice crying out for your attention, keep God’s Word in front of you at all times. You may not feel completely in the clear right away–it could take some time. But God will break through and reveal the lies for what they are and the truth for what it is. Hang onto what is true and ignore the lies. Take up the shield of faith and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16).

Remember–“The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12).

I will exalt You, Lord,
because You have lifted me up
and have not allowed my enemies
to triumph over me.

You turned my lament into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
so that I can sing to You and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise You forever.

-Psalm 30: 1, 11-12
