In Trials, Trust in God

For He has delivered me from every trouble,
and my eye has looked down on my enemies.

-Psalm 54:7

It is hard to go through trials. They come in so many different shapes and forms. Each one presents a different challenge and cuts us in a unique place. We may feel like 100 pounds of sand have been dumped on our chests. It feels hard to breathe. The weight is almost overwhelming.

The truth is, trials represent the greatest times to put our trust in God. We have only two choices to make–wallow in self-pity or trust in God. There is no middle ground. If we choose to trust in God, we need to keep making that choice until the trial passes. And it will pass. God has promised to deliver His own through every trouble. In the end, we will then look down on those who caused us to stumble in the first place.

Keep crying out to the Lord during your trial. Keep Scripture right in front of you. Read and re-read the same passage that brings you comfort. The trial will pass in God’s time. Cling to Him and He will hold you up. Praise His Great Name!

But I am like a flourishing olive tree
in the house of God;
I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever.
I will praise You forever for what You have done.
In the presence of Your faithful people,
I will put my hope in Your name, for it is good.

-Psalm 52:8-9

Hallelujah!
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His faithful love endures forever.

-Psalm 106:1
