Are you looking for a Bible study for someone who’s new to Bible study?

OnlyGod-Cover-thumbI’ll never forget the first time I participated in a Bible study. We met at a friend’s house from church. I got the workbook and watched a few of the videos. I tried the homework but was so frustrated because it was just too difficult for me. And after three weeks or so, I got discouraged and dropped out.

Have you or someone you know experienced something like that?

My first problem was that I’d never been taught how to start a personal relationship with Jesus. I was beginning a Bible study without first beginning a relationship with God. No wonder none of it made sense to me! Second, the Bible study I started was way over my head. I needed to learn the basics! But I didn’t even know enough to know what questions to ask or what kind of Bible study would be right for me.

That’s why I wanted to reach out to you. I get the feeling most of you are somewhat experienced in studying the Bible, or at least, you’ve traveled a little bit with Jesus already. And maybe you’ve been trying to reach out to a friend or two in your workplace, neighborhood, or child’s school who is interested in learning more about Jesus. But you don’t know where to begin.

I want to introduce you to Only God Makes Things Grow. I began writing this study about a year after I got saved and before I began seminary. It’s a study that is about a personal journey to grow closer to God, and it begins with the basics: fear, the enemy, loving God, prayer, guidance and correction, waiting and trusting God, and God’s glory. There are short video segments to begin each of the six weeks of study and workbook pages to download and write in. The lessons are fairly simple, straight-forward, and allow for personal reflection with God. And best of all, it’s free!

I invite you to pray and ask God: Is there someone you’d like me to invite to begin studying your Word?

This verse has hit me profoundly recently:
“Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months, then comes the harvest’? Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready for harvest.” -John 4:35

God is at work all around us, dear sisters. And He’s waiting for someone like you and me to take a step of faith and reach out to someone who is ready to begin a personal relationship with Him through the study of His Word.

Will you be that friend to someone like I needed several years ago to sit down over a cup of coffee and teach me the basics?

I encourage you to pray and seek the Lord. I’m praying and seeking Him right along with you. We are the hands and feet of Christ, and there are lonely and hurting women everywhere who are looking for help. Let’s be the ones who reach out and help! God’s given us the tools–let’s take them and go!

I love you all!
Courtney
