A New Word for 2014

Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame.

-Romans 10:11

I believe a new year represents a fresh beginning–a fresh chance to experience a new hope and a new peace in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God knows we need a chance to start over again. In fact, that’s the whole premise of being born-again–you get to start all over again! But even in Christ, we need to be reminded that each and every morning, each and every new week, new month, and finally, new year, gives us a chance to experience His mercies afresh. It is a great encouragement to us. It helps us to keep on moving forward with God.

Two years I heard a question on my local Christian radio station: What is your word for the new year? I just loved the question and that idea that God would give me a word to focus on for an entire year. I asked, and He answered. For 2012, my word was “hope.” And indeed, it was a year of hope! For 2013, my word was “power.” And wow, was it a year of power in the Lord! I asked God for this year’s word, and I’m feeling in my spirit the word “trust.” I will continue to seek Him and pray, asking Him to confirm this through Scripture.

So I ask you today–what will your word be for 2014? I encourage you to go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him. It is an awesome chance to see His fulfillment of the word throughout the year in ways and experiences you could never even imagine!

Dear Jesus, I pray and intercede for each person reading today and ask you to show Yourself mightily through him/her this year. I ask, Lord, that you give each person a new word which represents Your will for their life this coming year. May they always remember Your goodness and Your great love toward them, and that You work in eternity on their behalf. We thank you, Lord Jesus, for a new year and new promises to experience a deeper relationship with You. This, dear Lord, is the greatest gift you could ever give us–more of You! In Your Name I pray, Amen.

P.S. If you would like to share your word with me, please email me here. Fill out your name and email and put your word in the comment box, then click Ask! I would love to hear how God is speaking to you through this awesome experience with Him. I would also like to publish the words that are shared (no names mentioned, I promise) on our Facebook page. At the end of the year, we can see together how God worked through our lives to show Himself to us through these words!
