While In the Wait

Therefore, wait for Me—
this is the Lord’s declaration.

-Zephaniah 3:8

God knows. He knows. He knows exactly what to do and how to do it. We can rest assured that He is constantly working behind the scenes, in the unseen spiritual world, even when we cannot understand it. It may seem like absolutely nothing is going on. But don’t be deceived–plenty is going on–so much that we cannot even imagine or think of it.

So much of our walk with Jesus involves our patient endurance. We want to do, do, do! But God works and then carries us into His ways and His will, in His timing. One of the worst things we can do when God tells us to wait is to go ahead and act anyway. We must stay where we are until He tells us to move ahead. We may not understand why. But we can understand and keep seeking the One who does. We can then affirm our trust in His ways, which will always be higher than ours.

In your wait, be encouraged. The God of the Whole Universe is acting on your behalf to bring about what is best for you, which will always bring glory to Him. He delights in His children bearing much fruit for His name. But that fruit must not be picked until it is at the perfect place of ripeness. I ate a banana yesterday that was still too green. I could barely stomach it. But God’s spiritual fruit is always the freshest, ripest, most delicious and wonderful fruit that we can imagine!

Keep waiting, friend. Know how much He loves you. Know He understands the maturity it requires on your part, and He will supply all the maturity you need in Him. He is good. And you will be so grateful you waited for Him when the time does come to act.
