When You Don’t Know What To Do

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.

-James 1:5

Have you found yourself in a situation lately where you just don’t know what to do? It’s a challenging time, to say the least. It is easy to dwell on all the frustrations of the situation–to look back and wonder how it is you got here in the first place. We can easily find ourselves in despair if we keep going down the path of trying to figure it out all by ourselves. But we don’t have to. We have a God who will graciously and generously provide for us when we ask.

God’s Word promises that when we lack wisdom, we should ask God, and He will provide the direction we need. The challenge I believe, is asking, then believing by faith He will provide in the right moment. Sometimes that provision comes when we do not expect it and in ways we don’t understand. But that provision will come, and it will never be late. We can trust God holds you and me and the entire circumstance in His perfect hands.

So today, instead of dwelling on the circumstance and trying to figure it all out on your own, get on your knees by your bedside and start praying. Ask God to fill you with His peace and strength to walk in the provision He will set before you. Ask Him to pour out His wisdom and His perspective on the circumstance. Open your Bible and read His Word. Hear the comfort of His love and presence with you. Then get up and walk by faith that it’s all in His perfect hands. He will take care of it. He will direct you in the right paths for His name’s sake. And when it’s all said and done, one day, you will see His glory through it all.
