The Power of Our Father in Heaven

Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen.

-Jude 24-25

From time to time we desperately need to be reminded who is in control. When things seem chaotic and completely out of control, impossible or obscured, we need our loving Father to remind us that He alone is God. We need the power and authority of our God to show itself in the middle of our situation. When we are walking in faith, trusting the Father to lead us, even when we have no idea what will happen, we need to remember the power of our Father in heaven, who brings all things under His control. No matter what we see, He is still God. He is still the Living God, sitting on the throne in heaven. Satan’s lies can never usurp the One who is in control.

The Lord will protect us, no matter what. When God gives us a command to follow Him, we need the strength of the Holy Spirit to keep going and to not give up. We need to continually ask God to help us move forward with Him. Perhaps some breakthrough is right around the bend. Satan knows it and is trying all he can to get us off course. But all he can do is lie. The victory in Christ was already won at the cross of Calvary. Satan has no real power over a child of the Living God. Nonetheless, he is ruthless at his attempts to discourage us along the way to seeing that victory in our own lives.

Keep clinging to the feet of Jesus. Ignore the roaring lion and his fierce jaws and sharp teeth. Stop looking at him. Instead, look up to heaven at the One who holds all power and authority over your life. Praise Him for the victory that is already won in His name. Don’t give up, and don’t be afraid. The One who holds all time and all power over the whole universe is also holding you by your right hand. Take His powerful hand and rest in His embrace. You will stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy.
