God Hears Your Prayers!

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not My ways.”
This is the Lord’s declaration.
“For as heaven is higher than earth,
so My ways are higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.

-Isaiah 55:8-9

“Mommy, why didn’t God answer my prayer?” my seven-year-old daughter asked, clearly disappointed. She loves playing in her soccer games on Saturday and asked God to stop the rain and dry the fields so she could play. But by 8:00 A.M. on Saturday morning, when the decision to play had to be made, I received an email from the league’s president saying that games were cancelled that day and would be re-scheduled. My daughter didn’t understand why.

I looked at her, delighting in my sweet little girl’s prayer life with the Lord. I can only imagine how Jesus looks at her. I explained, “God heard your prayers, and He always listens and wants you to ask Him for what you want. Never stop praying or believing that God can answer all your prayers. But He sees the bigger picture that you and I cannot see. He’s also not a genie in a bottle, saying ‘Your wish is my command.’ In the long run, God knows what is best. And believe that when He says ‘no,’ it’s because He always has something better in mind.” She seemed satisfied with the answer and went along to play with her dad.

I love how God’s truths are for children and adults alike. Can we not relate to this situation ourselves? How many times have we prayed and trusted God to answer something, only to find it has still remained unanswered. How do we respond? Do we go down the path of doubt and unbelief, thinking God must not hear or doesn’t love us anymore? Or do we respond with continued faith and trust in a Perfect and Holy God, who loves us beyond measure, and knows what is best for us? I pray each of us resolve today, that no matter what, we will trust Jesus. We will not allow the enemy to get the better of us just because we can’t see everything that is going on behind the scenes. We will make the choice to walk by faith and not by sight.

Beloved, trust God today with your prayers. He hears every single one. Trust in His ways and His timing for all things. You will never be disappointed that you did.
