We Can Trust Him to Help Us

Way, truth and life IsraelFor we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.

-Hebrews 4:15-16

I think we forget sometimes how deeply Jesus understands us. He is most certainly God, perfect in every way, but He is also God who put on flesh and made His dwelling among us. He was born, grew up, and died (then rose from the dead). He was hungry, thirsty, and tired. He rejoiced, cried, prayed, and felt lonely. And, according to the writer in Hebrews, was tested in every single way, emerging from every test in perfect obedience to His Father.

He knows how we feel. He knows. We should never feel ashamed or embarrassed to come to Him and admit our weaknesses–our deepest thoughts, our deepest desires, and, our deepest sins. He knows. He cares. And He is the Only One able to help us. His grace pours out upon us like a cool rainstorm in a scorched desert.

Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Matt. 11:28-30 NLT).

For which struggles do you need to come to Jesus today? Bring all of them to His feet and let Him bear your burdens and carry your anxieties, for He understands you.
