The “Roman Road” Explains Salvation in Jesus Christ

Way, truth and life Israel

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

-John 14:6

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, we find the major components that explain how to receive salvation through Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a concise way to explain the Good News of Jesus Christ to someone, these verses are a great way to begin. Having them highlighted in your Bible ahead of time will help you point to them easily. Take time to consider the message today as we go through what’s called “The Roman Road.”

1.  Romans 3:23 — “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” There is no one who does right before God–all have sinned.

2. Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Death is the punishment for our sin. However, God made a way to save us from death and punishment through Jesus Christ’s free gift of salvation. Free means you cannot earn it. Free means you receive it through faith.

3. Romans 5:8 — “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” God’s standards are too high and perfect for us to ever reach on our own. But God showed His love in sending Jesus to die in our place. He did this because He knew we could never pay the penalty for our sins by ourselves.

4. Romans 10:9-10 — “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

5. Romans 10:13 — “For ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'”

Below is an example of a prayer to receive God’s salvation through Jesus Christ:

Dear God, I understand that I am a sinner and that I can never do enough good works to make up for my sins. I understand my sin separates me from you. I want to be forgiven of all my sins by accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe He died for all my sins. I believe You raised Him from the dead. I accept His work on the cross as taking my sins upon Himself so that I can be forgiven and be restored in a right relationship with You. I want Jesus to be the Lord of my life and I turn over my life to Him. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

It is my prayer today that God uses you to help someone else know Jesus Christ too. If you are searching, it is my prayer that you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. There is no greater gift, or decision, in our lives, then to believe and be saved through Jesus Christ alone.
