This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.

Joshua 1:8

I think Joshua 1:8 says it all about the importance of spending daily, quality time in the Word of God and what it can do in our lives. We live in a time where we’ve been given the gift of easy access to the Bible. And I believe we live in a time when we need God’s Word more than ever. Availability isn’t the issue. Choosing to spend time reading the Bible instead of doing a host of different activities is the issue.

There will always be distractions and excuses that come up. Yes, our lives are busy. However, if you spent time documenting how you spend each hour of your day, would you find you have a lot more time than you thought? Is every activity you engage in really necessary? Could you drop one activity a day and replace that with time in the Bible? Pray and ask God for His help. Then discipline yourself to do just that. Commit to make a change today. It won’t be easy. Remember, Satan does not want you reading your Bible, because he knows it will change your life.

Do you need help today? God is more than eager to meet you where you are right now. Open your Bible and begin.
