Cross of Christ

When fear begins to overwhelm us, the first place we need to turn is to God. “Jehoshaphat was afraid, and he resolved to seek the Lord” (2 Chron. 20:3). Reading out loud and meditating on Scriptures like the ones below will help us see the lies of fear in the light of truth. Fear is not from God. Use these Scriptures today to shine the light of Jesus into the darkness of your fears. Let the power of God and the courage found in Him alone give you what you need to overcome your fears today. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Psalm 54:4-5

God is my helper;
the Lord is the sustainer of my life.
He will repay my adversaries for their evil.

Psalm 55:16-18

But I call to God,
and the Lord will save me.
I complain and groan morning, noon, and night,
and He hears my voice.
Though many are against me,
He will redeem me from my battle unharmed.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord,
and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?

Psalm 57:1-3

Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for I take refuge in You.
I will seek refuge in the shadow of Your wings until danger passes.
I call to God Most High,
to God who fulfills His purpose for me.
He reaches down from heaven and saves me,
challenging the one who tramples me.
God sends His faithful love and truth.
