Strength in the Midst of Fear

Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

When I first learned about Hurricane Sandy, my first reaction was to be filled with fear. Living in the Richmond, Virginia area, the maps showed we are most certainly affected by the storm in some way. We’ve made it through hurricanes before, but this one seemed different. The fear began to shake me.

But I wouldn’t let it grip me. I went straight to God in prayer. I wouldn’t allow myself to entertain the fear, but instead, I went to the Source of All Truth. You see, the world doesn’t know the truth. But God knows the truth. He is the Truth. And He’s the only One would could speak truth over me to calm my anxious thoughts.

God spoke this verse in my heart. Now I cling to it. No matter what comes, He is with me. He is strengthening me and helping me. He is holding onto me with His righteous right hand.

Don’t allow fear to come into your thoughts based on what is happening around you. Go to God and cling to the truth of His Word. No matter what comes, He is always with you. Settle in your mind and heart today that you will not fear. Trust in the One who loves you more than you can imagine.
