Every Moment is A Time of Need

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 NIV1984

We pray for God to help us in our time of need. We may think of those times as especially difficult, painful, or trying times. But is not every moment, regardless of what we are going through, a time of need? Do we not need the wisdom and strength of the Lord in the ordinary and seemingly uneventful times of life as well?

Consider the words of Isaiah in Isa. 40:31–“Those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” What is the ultimate goal? Not to soar on wings like eagles, not to run and not grown weary, but to walk and not faint. We will have moments of great victory in our lives with the Lord. But most of our journey here is about living slow and steady, day-to-day, with the strength of the Lord to carry us.

Truly, every moment is a time of need. In Christ, every moment we can approach the throne of grace with confidence to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Every moment, we can acknowledge the presence of the Lord with us with a small cry, “Jesus, help me.” He will be with us to help us in our time of need. He will be with us every moment. Pray today to walk and not be faint.
