Watch to See What God Does Next

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not My ways.”
This is the Lord’s declaration.
“For as heaven is higher than earth,
so My ways are higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

When God reveals His plan to you about something He is about to do, rest in Him while you wait. It can be very tempting to fixate our thoughts on how God is going to do what He says He’s going to do. But we cannot picture the grace He’s going to give us in the future. We can only walk in the grace He’s given us in this moment.

Henry Blackaby said it well in Experiencing God: “Have patience and watch to see what God does next.” It takes a tremendous amount of spiritual maturity to live moment-by-moment instead of in the future. After all, God’s presence now is the best part of our relationship with Him. If we spend unnecessary energy thinking about the future, we will miss what God is doing right now in our lives. Rest in Him. His promises will come to fruition. In the meantime, praise Him for His promises, and walk joyfully with Him today.
