Praying for Others

As for me, I vow that I will not sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you.

1 Samuel 12:23

As children of the Living God, we have an important responsibility to pray for others. We are commanded to pray for other believers. “Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints(Ephesians 6:18). We are also commanded to intercede for unbelievers. “And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives” (Jude 1:22-23 NLT).

It is an awesome responsibility to be able to join God in His work in the lives of others. Praying for others connects us with God’s heart for them. It gives us insight into His love and concern for them. It helps us to minister to their needs when we speak with them face-to-face. Prayer is our most powerful tool in helping others.

Who do you need to pray for today?
