We Did Absolutely Nothing to Deserve God’s Grace

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

Ephesians 2:4-5

This is one of the most amazing truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. God poured out His love upon all humanity, to save us from our sins and our separation from Him, when we did absolutely nothing to deserve it. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8)

According to the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary (mystudybible.com), grace is defined as, “Undeserved acceptance and love received from another.” Jesus Christ, in sinless perfection, went to the cross to take all our sins upon Himself, so that when we receive His salvation by faith, we receive justification (acquittal) in the eyes of God. That means a born-again Christian is free from all her sins–past, present, and future. God no longer sees her sins, instead, He sees His perfect Son Jesus in her.

It is up to each person who ever lived to believe and receive the gift of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).

You and I did absolutely nothing to deserve God’s grace. But God is love. “For God love the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Will you receive His grace today?
