Like a Little Child

Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty.

I do not get involved with things too great or too difficult for me.

Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself like a little weaned child with its mother;

I am like a little child.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord, both now and forever.

Psalm 131

I memorized this psalm a few months ago. On that day, God gave me a great illumination: a reminder of who I am. I am like a little child. You see, I oftentimes get involved with things too great or too difficult for me. But God says, My child, My precious child– Do you understand who I am?

God is the great I AM (Exo. 3:14). He has always been, He is, and He will always be. He had no beginning and will have no ending. He alone is God. We are His creation, the only ones in the whole universe made in His image. We cannot imagine the depth of His love for us. All we can do is receive it and put our hope in Him, both now and forever. Just like a little child.
