All Scripture is the Authority for Life (Weekend Devotional)

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:16

I believe it is a powerful freedom to know that all Scripture is inspired by God and without error. It means I have only one source of all truth–the Bible, or, as my 5-year-old son says, “The Holy Bible.” Once God opened my eyes and heart to the truth of His Word and its power in living out this life on earth, I no longer have to search for meaning or truth anywhere else. I no longer have to worry if I’m doing the right thing or not. I can just go to God in His Word and know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that His Word is the only one I need to live by.

We don’t spend nearly enough time in God’s Word. We get trapped by the world’s entertainment which takes time away from God’s Word. Don’t allow that to happen any longer. Make an appointment every day to spend time reading the Bible. Ask God to open your heart before you read so that you can hear Him speak to you personally. Remember any thoughts of doubt, distrust, or distraction from reading the Bible are just Satan’s attempts to get you away from God. Go to your local Christian bookstore and find a good Bible reading plan, sticking with it through the end. I promise you there is no better way to spend your time, and you will be so thankful you did.
